George Sakata's 442nd Recon Regiment takes a leisurely "dinner break" while drinking beer and roasting a pig in an abandoned Italian house. Taken from George's original film negatives of the Italian Campaign, this photograph possesses considerable historical merit, as the men featured in this photograph are a group from the Hawaiian National Guard that suffered a 93% casualty rate in World War II.
Taken by George Sakata, a photographer featured throughout our website. George was a member of the infamous 100th Division 442nd Nisei Regimental Combat Team in WWII.
