George Sakata

$24.99

The 442nd Regimental Combat Team takes a leisurely "dinner break" while drinking beer and roasting a pig in an abandoned Italian house sometime during World War II.

This photograph was taken by George Sakata, an American soldier and photographer featured throughout our website. George was a member of the infamous 442nd Nisei Regimental Combat Team during WWII. This unit consisted entirely of Japanese American soldiers, and they were given some of the most dangerous assignments in Europe. Thanks to their incredible bravery (the unit's motto was "Go for Broke"), the 442nd remains the most decorated unit in U.S. military history for their size and length of service.
