A handful of boats of different varieties line the quaint harbor of Cape Ann.  Some of the boats are anchored in position, while several sail and motor boats are traveling towards their destination. The waves seem to be a little rough at the time this photograph was taken, and the sky is clouded grey. In the background of the harbor are several beautifully-designed cottages, as well as what may be a yacht house towards the right. There are also two flags perched atop the house, one of which is most likely the US flag. They sway against the flag poles, indicating that the wind was rather strong that day. A vast row of healthy, dense trees runs behind the cottages, and on the left side, a large wooden building, which looks to be a hotel, is camouflaged among the foliage.

From the collection of Fred Bodin of Gloucester MA. Fred was a long time resident and well-known photographer of Gloucester and had one of the best private collections of New England nautical photographs in private hands. Fred was a photojournalist having graduated with this degree from Syracuse University and worked for Yankee Magazine. Fred passed away in 2016 and HIP purchased his collection from his estate.
