Here we are, folks! It's the carriage that started it all! When I first stumbled across this collection of negatives, I had no idea who took them or where they came from. There was nothing about their packaging to give any clues and they were utterly devoid of labels. But then, after examining this negative, I realized that the carriage had a clue. Thanks to that "Farragut House" lettering across the top, I was able to figure out where these photographs were taken and who took them. Three cheers for you, Clarence Trefry, for taking a picture of something that could help us discover you. The Farragut House Hotel was originally built in 1846, then rebuilt after a fire in 1883. This photo, probably taken around 1900, shows the hotel's carriage, which was probably used to transport guests around the town of Rye, New Hampshire.
