Cliff Dwellings

Fred Bodin

$24.99

A photograph of cliff dwellings, most likely somewhere near the Sonoran Desert, which includes portions of Arizona, Southern California, and Northwestern Mexico. The southwestern United States is home to handful of rock dwelling sites, including Mesa Verde , Chaco Canyon, and the Tonto National Monument. We think that the dwellings in this particular photograph are part of the Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monument in the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. For thousands of years, nomadic groups found temporary respite in cliffs around the Gila River, and in the late 1200's, the Mogollan culture made this region into a more permanent home. This desert expedition comes to us from the collection of Fred Bodin, a collector and photographer who lived and worked in New England until his death in 2016. Thanks for the trip, Fred!
