There's a lot to love about this image. Personally, I'm a big fan of the middle gray tones and all the textures of the wood grains. That said, this particular pose is an unexpected one. It's unclear where exactly this woman is, but since she appears to be in late 19th century swimwear, there's a good chance she's posing inside the Locke's Bath Houses at Jenness Beach. No matter where this woman happens to be, I find myself fascinated by her facial expression. Like so many who posed for Clarence Trefry, her face projects a sense of cool and calm, but also has an aura of restraint. While she seems comfortable in this informal setting, I get the distinct feeling that there is much that she is holding back. These perfect textures, gray tones, and moods brought to you by Clarence Trefry.
