A man stands in a clearing and even though his pose is simple at first glance, there's something captivating about him (and it's not just his excellent tie and his legit mustache). To me, his face gives off a quiet confidence. Neither his pose nor his attire are especially loud, but even so, there's something about his posture and the looseness in his hands that gives off a sense of calm. This photograph was taken by Clarence Trefry, who was active for decades in the Rye, New Hampshire area, starting in the late 19th century.
