Depicted is the grand Sheraton Hotel located on a bustling corner street in 1800s Pennsylvania. Its buildings tower over people hurrying along the city streets and is noticeably taller than any other structure nearby. Aside from its incredible height, several other noticeable features of the hotel are its arched entryways, symmetrical layout, and bracketed roof cornice.

Sheraton Hotels is a global hotel chain that was founded by Ernest Henderson and Robert Moore in 1937 when they purchased their first hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts. Henderson and Moore wanted to create a series of hotels where customers could expect to be treated with the same quality service when staying at a hotel under the same name. Interestingly enough, the name "Sheraton" was already in use when the two began their business, and it refers to a large sign placed on the roof of a hotel that Henderson and Moore purchased. Rather than choosing to remove the sign, which would have been very costly, they chose to name their chain the "Sheraton", which is still in use to this very day.

From the collection of Fred Bodin of Gloucester, MA. Fred was a long time resident and well-known photographer of Gloucester and had one of the best private collections of New England nautical photographs in private hands. Fred was a photojournalist having graduated with this degree from Syracuse University and worked for Yankee Magazine. Fred passed away in 2016 and HIP purchased his collection from his estate.
