A man sits on the sidewalk with this stubby cigar and reeded chair, waiting and watching for something, although we don't know what. This snapshot was taken by American photographer and soldier, George Sakata, during World War II. George was a member of the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which consisted entirely of second-generation Japanese American soldiers. To this day, the 442nd remains the most decorated unit in all of U.S. military history.
